ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly, qualified science teacher, with a chemistry specialism. I have 14 years of experience working in education, curriculum leadership and pastoral leadership, with previous roles as Head of Chemistry and Head of Year 13. I teach science to years 7-11 and chemistry to KS5. I have a wealth of experience teaching science and chemistry online and face-to-face.

I deliver key information in manageable chunks and regularly assess students’ understanding. I provide many opportunities for students to construct meaning and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar contexts, whilst practising lots of exam questions and revision techniques in my lessons.

MY MISSION

My mission as an science tutor revolves around four core principles:
  1. Enhancing Subject Knowledge
  2. Elevating Grades and Achieving Success
  3. Cultivating a Safe Learning Environment
  4. Identifying and Filling Knowledge Gaps

My goal is to empower students, fostering deep understanding, boosting academic performance, providing a judgment-free space, and addressing individual learning needs.

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID

We have been working with Gemma for over a year studying for A level Chemistry. She has been an extremely well organised , knowledgeable, well qualified  and conscientious tutor who is very easy to learn from.

Gemma is a great educator with excellent communications skills and is able to explain complex issues in  simple ways. She is also a really likeable person.

We would thoroughly recommend Gemma . Indeed prior to becoming a private tutor Gemma worked with my niece and nephew too and she was instrumental in them achieving great academic success  in science generally and specifically in Chemistry.

You would have to go a long way to find someone better than Gemma in teaching Chemistry- hire her - you will not go wrong.
